Museum of Encaustic Art, MEA. The Encaustic Art Institute (EAI), a 501C3 nonprofit art organization now in its 11th year, is proud and excited about opening the first museum of encaustic art in America. The Museum opened to the public in March, 2017 at our present location, 632 Agua Fria St, Santa Fe, New Mexico, 87501. Nine years ago EAI started acquiring art that was exemplary for presentation in a museum setting. First slowly choosing selected pieces from each member shows, and from our yearly National Juried shows, which has enabled us to have over 300 works of very diverse encaustic/wax art for the world to see and appreciate; and at the same time learn about one of the oldest art forms in the world. The Encaustic Art Institute also has established its presence in Santa Fe as a valued learning institution that gives back to the community in workshops, outreach programs and collaborating with other non-profits, to further the arts.
