A Century of Hopi-Tewa Pottery: From Nampeyo of Hano to Mark Tahbo
Mon, Aug 7, 2017 thru Sat, Sep 30, 2017
onetime 11:59 PM - 11:59 PM
Location: Adobe Gallery

Legendary Hopi potter Nampeyo of Hano used designs created by her prehistoric ancestors to bring Hopi pottery to the masses in the early 1900s. Today, Hopi potters like Mark Tahbo—who will be present at the reception—use Nampeyo's designs as inspiration for new works. The exhibit, which features works by both potters and many others who produced pottery between them, will show how today's artists continue to be influenced by those of yesteryear.
