Works from Scholder's Indians Forever suite, original paintings, and various lithographs and prints from the fertile creative period that followed Indians Forever.
"Fritz Scholder was one-quarter Indian by birth but declared he would never paint Indian subjects because he felt the Indian theme was such a visual cliché. He later amended his thoughts on that subject and decided to paint the Indian in a decidedly less romantic fashion. Scholder was one of the first artists to graphically depict Indians as they appeared at that time—as living, breathing, struggling humans. His ‘Indians Forever' lithographs are compositionally strong, vibrant in color, and sometimes shocking. They're excellent examples of why Scholder's work has been celebrated around the world."
