2015 May, TOURISM Santa Fe to Open New Downtown Plaza Visitor CenterMay 22, 2015: TOURISM Santa Fe announces the grand opening of a new visitor center on the historic downtown plaza on Wednesday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. The Plaza Visitor Center is in the Plaza Galeria at 66 E. San Francisco Street, on the main level, and will be open and staffed from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
TOURISM Santa Fe Visitor Centers welcome the world’s travelers to The City Different and provide assistance in all aspects of the Santa Fe experience from historical sites and tours to lodging, dining, culture and the great outdoors. 30,000 travelers visited the centers in 2014. With the addition of the Plaza Visitor Center, this number is conservatively estimated to more than double.
“The strong increase in travel to Santa Fe and everyone’s interest in visiting the historic plaza makes this expansion of services a natural one,” said Randy Randall, Executive Director for TOURISM Santa Fe. “Even travelers who’ve been to Santa Fe before can be surprised by how much high quality experience is available at any given time of the year. The Visitor Centers are a key part of our ongoing effort to raise awareness of all the city has to offer.”
The new center offers a “walk-in” option to the long-established “walk-up” information service offered in season by the Bienvenidos arm of the Santa Fe Chamber Of Commerce. “By having these two centers in the busy Plaza area, we hope to offer more and faster service to our growing number of guests,” said Randall.
The Plaza Visitor Center will also feature free solar-powered charging hubs for visitors’ mobile phones, tablets and other rechargeable devices. The technology, from New Mexico firm Stay.Solar, debuted for the first time anywhere last month at the Community Convention Center and Railyard Visitor Centers.
