Visiting Santa Fe

2015 December, Travel & Leisure Readers Award Santa Fe for Winter Travel

December 9, 2015: The prestigious Travel + Leisure Reader’s Choice Awards revealed that for 2015 their readers voted Santa Fe #11 on their list of 35 America’s Best Cities For Winter Travel. Nearly every city ahead of or near Santa Fe is a celebrated hot weather getaway destination such as Honolulu, San Juan, Phoenix, New Orleans, San Diego, and Miami.

“The offbeat New Mexico destination offers the best of both kinds of winter vacations,” the publication wrote, “fairly mild temps in the piñon-scented city, and access to the slopes at Ski Santa Fe, Taos, or Angel Fire outside town. Cold or not, it’s the perfect place to chill out, readers said: the city is ideal for cultural getaways and peace and quiet.”

This award follows the Conde Nast Reader’s Choice Awards in October where Santa Fe was named #2 Best Small City In The United States and was scored 6th best city in the world.

“Travelers are increasingly recognizing that Santa Fe is truly a four-season destination,” said Randy Randall, Executive Director for TOURISM Santa Fe. “Millions of visitors have discovered that summer days in The City Different are not too hot and summer nights at 7,000 feet are delightfully comfortable. Now Travel + Leisure readers have noted our mild winter days with dramatic skiing on the mountain and world-class cuisine and culture on the town.”

Santa Fe is currently in the midst of its event-packed December “Season Of Joy,” enjoying one of its best ski openings in decades, and planning for two first-ever annual events: New Year’s Eve On The Plaza and The Santa Fe Foodie Classic in January. Hotel discount packages are available for all.
