April 7, 2015: The Santa Fe School of Cooking has something to sing aboutǃ To welcome yet another vibrant season at the renowned Santa Fe Opera, the School has created a savory series of once-a-month events featuring flavors that mirror a summer of glorious music in the City Different. Five-star opera and fine cuisine—a winning recipe.

Four tasteful Thursdays—May 28, June 25, July 30 and August 13—each feature a memorable meal designed to offer a culinary view of the Opera’s 2015 productions. In a nod to Strauss’ Salome, the menu opens with cumin-spiced Israeli flatbread with cardamom hummus puree and takes a bow with apple pie à la mode that could well be served by the heroine of Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain, a Santa Fe Opera world premiere.

As the creative carte du jour leads guests through all five of the season’s exciting productions—including Donizetti’s delightful bel canto romp, The Daughter of the Regiment, Mozart’s youthful La Finta Giardiniera, and Verdi’s haunting Rigoletto—the culinary drama unfolds with a Salade Nicoise, dolmas with tzatziki sauce, and stuffed chicken breast in sage brown butter sauce on a bed of polenta.

What’s more, these four flavorful soirees feature more than food: Soprano Ingela Onstad, a talented Santa Fe Opera alumna, will sing arias from three of the season’s riveting presentations, and Opera staff will be on hand for lively conversation about SFO’s past, present and future as one of the city’s most beloved institutions.

This culinary adventure is a one-of-a-kind feast that sends guests home with a collection of recipes to recreate the magic and musical memories that will linger long after the meal is done. This opera sensation can also be crafted for a unique group experience by special request.
