From the incredible array of festivals, art markets, outdoor adventures, musical performances and more, summer in Santa Fe is our fine city’s most popular time of year. Here in The City Different we are poised for yet another one-of-a-kind summer season full of exciting special events. Planning a visit to Santa Fe in the month of June can be an excellent way to ease in to a summer of traveling. There is a full schedule of events to enjoy this month; however, the volume of visitors is not at its peak like it will be in July and August. So sneak in a trip to Santa Fe and put one of these June events on your itinerary.
Cocktails & Culture Festival
Get your shaker ready, the 2018 New Mexico Cocktails & Culture Festival returns to Santa Fe, June 1-3, 2018. Kick off this year’s festival with tequila, mezcal and street tacos at “Taco Wars” on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Drury Plaza Hotel where mixologist Bobby “G” Gleason will teach a tequila seminar, a variety of margaritas will be available and Santa Fe restaurants will compete for the “Top Taco” title. The three-day festival features events geared toward both hospitality professionals and spirit sipping enthusiasts including mixology seminars, cocktail samplings and food plus spirits pairing sessions.
The Santa Fe Institute’s first annual InterPlanetary Festival will draw space enthusiasts from around the world to Santa Fe for a two-day celebration of human ingenuity, June 7-8, 2018. The festival will transform the Railyard District with an expo showcasing innovation and technology for space exploration. Concurrent with the expo, participants can enjoy open-air concerts, maker spaces, lectures and panel discussions, a Sci-Fi film showcase, projects, art walks, talks and installations, cosplay and gaming centered around InterPlanetary topics and citizen science.
CURRENTS New Media Festival
CURRENTS New Media 2018 brings together the work of both established and emerging new media artists from New Mexico, the US and the world, June 8-24, 2018. Offering a glimpse of where the art world is headed in the future, festival events showcase interactive and fine art video installations, multimedia performances, digital dome programs, robotics, 3D printing and so much more. Portions of the festival will be held at art galleries and venues across the city, however the main exhibition can be found in the Santa Fe Railyard District at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe and is free with a $5 suggested donation for attendees over 18. Santa Fe Studio Tour
The Santa Fe Studio Tour offers the public the opportunity to get inside access to the studios of more than 60 Santa Fe artists over two weekends in June. Visit with artists in their creative work space as they give demonstrations of their craft, share techniques of their medium, create new works and discuss what inspires their work. The annual studio tour will be held June 16-17 and June 23-24, 2018. A map of studio locations and artists can be found on the event website.
Rodeo de Santa Fe
The 69th annual Rodeo de Santa Fe comes bucking into town on June 20-23, 2018 with a lineup of traditional western rodeo events for the entire family to enjoy. From barrel racing to bareback and “mutton bustin” to bull riding, this rodeo has it all. Not to mention, it’s been roping in the hearts of New Mexico cowboys and rodeo fans since it began in 1949. Get ready for the heart-pounding, dirt-slinging, action-packed performances of top PRCA rodeo athletes and top PRCA rodeo entertainment.
Santa Fe Bandstand
The 2018 season of Santa Fe Bandstand will begin on the first day of summer, Thursday, June 21, 2018 with singer, songwriter Chuck Prophet at 7:15 p.m. Additional performers already announced for this season will include: Josh Hoyer and Soul Colossal, Dale Watson, I Draw Slow, The Sea The Sea and Lipbone Redding. The 2018 season will run through August 11 and will include five Bandstand Southside events at Swan Park. The full schedule of concerts will be available soon on the event website.
Santa Fe Wine Festival
Are you looking to sample New Mexico wines and learn more about the varieties and vintages being produced right here in our state? Then plan to attend the Santa Fe Wine Festival on June 30 and July 1, 2018. The New Mexico Wine and Grape Growers Association brings more than 20 wineries from around the state to El Rancho de las Golondrinas for this two-day celebration. Pair your wine with mouthwatering food, dance to live music and shop with local arts and crafts vendors during Santa Fe’s longest running wine festival.
