Visiting Santa Fe

2017 April, Traditional Brick-Making Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico

April 25, 2017: Cornerstones and Adobe in Action will host four free adobe brick-making workshops in Santa Fe, one each Saturday in May from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend for any length of time. An introductory talk will begin at 9:00 a.m. each day. The workshops will be in the courtyard of the Palace of the Governors on May 6 and May 20 and at San Miguel Chapel on May 13 and May 27.

People of all ages are welcome to participate and learn about the oldest “green” building process in existence. Each full-sized brick made will be used to help save a traditional adobe building in Northern New Mexico. Children will make miniature adobe brick votive candle holders. Participants will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment and be informed of the destination of the bricks they made.

The workshops are in celebration of Heritage Preservation Month and supported by New Mexico True, Heritage Hotels & Resorts, Inc., New Mexico History Museum/Palace of the Governors, Historic Santa Fe Foundation, and St. Michael’s High School.

Cornerstones works in partnerships with communities to restore historic structures, encourage traditional building practices and affirm cultural values.
