2016 June, Santa Fe Hotel Complete Renovations and Attract Fresh Management & Culinary Talent

June 29, 2016: As the needs of meetings and events planners continue to evolve, the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico – the nation’s oldest and highest elevation state capital – is leading with new state-of-the-art facilities for meetings and off-site entertainment as well as new faces in some of the city’s hottest kitchens.

Here’s some of what’s new on the legendary Santa Fe hospitality scene:

New group activity/venue: Meow Wolf & “The House of Eternal Return”
Renowned Santa Fe art collective Meow Wolf recently opened its first permanent installation “House of Eternal Return” to tremendous fanfare. The George R.R. Martin-backed interactive art experience has scores of immersive spaces, a 300-person music venue, video game arcade, treehouses and more. “It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before,” says Martin. Open Wednesday through Monday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

La Fonda on the Plaza completes final phase of renovations
La Fonda on the Plaza has completed its refresh of the historic property which began in December 2015. This renovation focused on the revitalization of the lobby, La Fiesta Lounge, gift shop, public bathrooms, garage vestibule and the public corridors from the garage. In the new La Fiesta Lounge, visitors have a sleek and sophisticated spot to enjoy the tempting creations of La Fonda’s mixologists and Chef Lane Warner. Food options range from a flight of salsas and chips to deconstructed nachos to heartier fare such as La Fonda’s iconic green chile cheeseburger all the way to crispy dessert churros with Mexican chocolate dipping sauce. The lounge also boasts a new coffee bar and dedicated barista.

Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi completes renovations of fitness center
Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi is an intimate world-class retreat that celebrates the enduring creative spirit and traditions of the region's early Native Americans, the city's rich cultural heritage as an early Spanish establishment, and its ongoing legacy as an artist colony. On July 1, the hotel will debut a new fitness center in honor of the 25th anniversary, marking the completion of the three year renovation project. Use of the new fitness center will be complimentary for all guests, and includes state-of-the-art cardio equipment and weights from renowned fitness brand Technogym.

New chef joins Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi
Executive Chef Edgar Beas joins Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi following his most recent position as a chef de cuisine at Madera, the Michelin-starred signature restaurant at Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, California. During Chef Beas’ tenure at Madera he was in charge of developing new dishes that elevated vegan and gluten-free dining while artfully integrating the seasonal produce from Northern California. Chef Beas previously held the position of executive chef at San Francisco’s Chez Papa Resto following his international training in Spain. He is a graduate of the San Diego Culinary Institute.

New chef joins La Posada de Santa Fe
The culinary scene at La Posada de Santa Fe, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, is even hotter with the recent appointment of James Hollenbach as Chef de Cuisine. Hollenbach, an award-winning chef with international experience and accolades, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and trained with Wolfgang Puck at Spago in Chicago. While he comes to La Posada after recent successes in international locales such as Colombia, Latvia, the Caribbean and Thailand, Hollenbach began his career in Santa Fe working for Celebrity Chef Mark Miller at Coyote Café.

New Director of Catering and Conference Services joins Hotel Santa Fe, The Hacienda & Spa
Mary Brophy joined Hotel Santa Fe The Hacienda & Spa this spring as the Director of Catering and Conference Services. Brophy brings her years of experience and an extensive background in high-end event planning, having served as the Director of Catering at Santa Fe’s Eldorado Hotel, the Mansion Director for New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, as well as the Governor’s personal assistant. In her new role, she will oversee the property’s banquet staff in addition to in-house and off-site events and catering. Hotel Santa Fe The Hacienda and Spa is the city’s only Native American-owned hotel and the first property in the country to power all of its guestrooms with solar energy.

New Meeting Space unveiled at the Drury Plaza Hotel
Santa Fe’s Drury Plaza Hotel introduces the O’Keeffe Meeting Space at this beautiful downtown property. The O’Keeffe Room is Santa Fe’s newest meeting venue and this 3,000-square-foot space has an open design with the ability to seat up to 300 people, depending on the desired set-up of the event. The room also has a ceiling-mounted Epson 6000 Series HD Projector with a 12-foot projection screen. A complete in-house sound system finishes off the space to make this meeting venue one of the best in Santa Fe.

New General Manager joins the Drury Plaza Hotel
Keith Kirk has been named the new general manager of the Drury Plaza Hotel in Santa Fe. Keith has been with Drury Hotels for 20 years and most recently was in Phoenix, where he opened the Drury Inn & Suites Phoenix Airport and the Drury Inn & Suites Phoenix Tempe. Keith began his career with Drury Hotels in Houston at the Drury Inn & Suite Houston West Energy Corridor and the Drury Inn & Suites Houston near the Galleria before moving to Phoenix to help with Drury Hotels’ expansion. Mr. Kirk’s hotels have earned many accolades and awards within the Drury Hotel system and he will be well suited for this new position in Santa Fe.

New General Manager joins the Eldorado Hotel & Spa
Cainan Harris has joined the Eldorado Hotel & Spa as general manager. Harris started his hotel career as a corporate trainee with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Kansas City but it was his duties in regards to the opening of the Hyatt Tamaya Resort & Spa on the Santa Ana Pueblo that brought him to New Mexico. Harris most recently served as the General Manager and Director of Sales at Hotel Albuquerque.

New Dining and Outlets Manager joins Inn and Spa at Loretto
James Buckley has joined Santa Fe’s Inn and Spa at Loretto as the Dining and Outlets Manager. Buckley is a certified sommelier, winemaker and brew-master who will curate unique dining experiences for hotel guests. He has an array of food and beverage experience including previously held positions as manager at Radish and Rye in Santa Fe and captain at The French Laundry in Yountville, California. Mr. Buckley is a foodie who has also developed real estate on three continents.
