2014, June ART Santa Fe's 14th YearJune 6, 2014: As ART Santa Fe celebrates fourteen successful years this summer, galleries from around the world will offer an outstanding overview of modern and contemporary art during the weekend of July 10-13, 2014. ART Santa Fe has received great response from gallerists and collectors for this year’s fair and expects continuing strong sales and foot traffic. Excitement is still running high after last year's record fair, and ART Santa Fe's producers are broadening their sights to make ART Santa Fe's fourteenth edition something even more special.
Designated as one of UNESCO's Creative Cities, Santa Fe is a globally familiar art destination. The city claims the second largest art market in the United States and draws visitors from across the country and internationally. The Wall Street Journal's Smart Money magazine recently noted "Santa Fe is dotted with 240 art galleries and is the home of ART Santa Fe, an international art fair that attracts buyers and tourists from around the world. The Santa Fe art scene is one of the best you will find anywhere."
Sponsored by Art & Antiques magazine, the ART Santa Fe 2014 Vernissage will take place on the evening of July 10 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and the fair will be presented Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 11, 12, and 13 from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
The prestigious ART Santa Fe Presents lecture features prominent keynote speaker James Meyer, Associate Curator of Modern Art at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. His highly regarded book "Return to the Sixties: On the Meaning of the Sixties in Art and Culture" will be the basis of Meyer's lecture.
This summer Santa Fe will once again host the Art Trifecta, which includes ART Santa Fe 2014; the International Folk Art Market (July 10-13) presenting more than 190 global artisans from 60 countries offering one-of-a-kind, hand-made
masterworks; and SITE Santa Fe (opening festivities July 17-20) showing its new biennial exhibition "SITElines.2014: Unsettled Landscapes" with work from artists in North, Central, and South America focused on three themes: landscape, territory, and trade. Santa Fe's Art Trifecta offers non-stop activities and events that span a broad spectrum of art from edgy, contemporary galleries to indigenous, hand-crafted wares by village artists from across the globe.
ART Santa Fe remains unique in the art world, offering art buyers an opportunity that goes beyond the fair's doors in a world-class destination city. With cultural partners like SITE Santa Fe and the International Folk Art Market, Santa Fe will offer ten days of art events for visitors from around the world.
With ART Santa Fe, the difference lies not only in the setting, quality, and city–but also in attitude. At ART Santa Fe, art has always been at the heart of the matter.
