SANTA FE ART VOYAGEUR
16 Buster Ridge Road
Santa Fe, NM 87505
Santa Fe Art Voyageur is the result of an artist/boater's inspiration and a tour operator's know-how. While on a river trip in Texas' Lower Canyons of the Rio Grande, Ray Gulick (artist and boater) was struck with the idea that art workshops could be conducted in wilderness areas, mixing outdoor adventure, natural beauty, and art instruction in a multi-day package. A few weeks later, a conversation with friend Hervé Goujon, the owner/director of operations of Native Destinations (a tour and meeting planning company), led to turning the idea into reality.
Operating as a division of Native Destinations, Santa Fe Art Voyageur specializes in putting artists and rivers together for memorable art workshops in beautiful, natural settings. Experienced working artists serve as workshop instructors, utilizing gorgeous scenery as their classroom and studio. The trips feature camping in remote, protected areas and and all that comes with it: clear starlit skies, camp cuisine, and the special brand of camaraderie that is often shared around the embers of a dying campfire. The guide companies we work with are the most experienced and knowledgeable on the rivers we visit. We do everything we can to make your workshop/river trip a memorable and valuable experience.
We hope you'll join us on the river. Then we hope you'll come back and bring a friend.

Madrid, New Mexico
Madrid, a booming coal town from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, was on the verge of extinction when artists infused new life in the 1970s.
Located 23 miles south of Santa Fe on State Highway 14, known as the Turquoise Trail, Madrid today is a thriving town of galleries, shops, studios and eateries. There's an annual blues festival in May and a traditional Christmas outdoor light display that dates from its mining days. Visit the Old Coal Mine Museum to learn more about Madrid's mining era.
