Stanton Macdonald-Wright (1890-1973) was one of America's leading modernist painters and an early pioneer of abstract art. Together with fellow American expatriate Morgan Russell, he co-founded the avant-garde painting movement Synchromism. The new word was meant to express the idea that music and color are parallel phenomena. To explain these early paintings, dubbed "synchromies", the artists wrote "Treatise on Color" in 1924. The book postulated that color and sound were exact and literal equivalents of each other - a theory that beautifully explains Macdonald-Wright's luminous, rhythmic compositions of this era. Macdonald-Wright's work was recently featured in the Museum of Modern Art's exhibition Inventing Abstraction: 1910-1925.
In addition to the display of Synchromist paintings, Peyton Wright's exhibition Homage to Color will incorporate works in a variety of media, spanning the artist's career.

New Mexicans have always made art—we have always made aestheticized objects that reflect our world views. From beautifully made, 14,000-year-old Paleo-Indian tools to contemporary imagery, New Mexico art has reflected our changing technologies, embodied our ways of making a living, and personified our spirituality.
And where else but New Mexico has art reflected everything from the creators of stone tools to the invention of the atomic bomb?
Curated by Joseph Traugott, Ph.D., the museum's curator of twentieth century art, the exhibition begins with the earliest yet-discovered art—Clovis points—and proceeds in an unbroken continuum to the present.

Small businesses recognize the need for employee training and development, but often don't have large budgets for training. And sending employees to full or multi-day training seminars and workshops sometimes means closing the office or losing productivity. A new series of twice monthly training seminars from Optimal Organizations, LLC solves the cost and time issues. The Small Business 12-2 Success Membership Program begins May 7, 2014 at the Santa Fe Community Foundation, 501 Halona Street, Santa Fe.
“This program has been developed especially for small businesses, and is the same high quality program used by Fortune 500 companies,” says Eric Riebsomer, Principal at Optimal Organizations, LLC. “Employees will not be out of the office long. When they return, they will come back with heightened motivation and practical skills they can immediately put to use, improving themselves and the company.”
Benefits to this training include:
• Increased employee productivity
• Boosted morale
• Enhanced communication
• Development of future leaders
• Increased profits
• Improved customer service
• Achievement of extraordinary results
• Employees can immediately implement tools learned
The Small Business 12-2 Success Membership Program is an annual, twice a month series of recurring employee development trainings. Each session is 2-3 hours long. Training can be started at any point in the 12-month program because each session stands alone, and the schedule repeats. A company can purchase a membership for up to 3 employee reservations at one price, and send whomever they wish to any or all of the sessions. The membership can be renewed after six months or a year, enabling the company to continue sending employees for training and development.
