Jared - Friday 7:50 AM
So far things have been flawless. The shuttle from the airport, the check in at La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa, the nice little amenities left for us all worked just right. The room is even better than it looked online.

James - Friday 9:00 AM
We got here last night and got a chance to do a little walk around. This place is charming. The narrow streets and small boutiques feel like a village somewhere in Europe. It was the perfect choice for us to reconnect and just be together.

James - Friday 11:15 AM
I'm not sure what I expected but Santa Fe is such a laid back scene, it makes you take a big breath and relax. I think it's at least partly because the surroundings are so beautiful with all the blue sky and the mountains in the background. The city itself is incredible, so old and historic, but modern too. Even though there's so much to do, no one seems like they're in a hurry.

Jared - Friday Noon
I like the whole adobe village thing downtown. Neither of us has ever been in a place that looks like this. And the town is small enough that we're walking everywhere. We're going back to a small store that has top quality European linens for our house. I'm also thinking about some rugs we saw. Going to a Pat Metheny concert tonight.

James - Friday 1:00 PM
I didn't know Jared liked red so much. He never seems to wear it but he kept picking up red things when we shopped and it's a really good color for him. I think he's really relaxed too.

James - Friday 2:34 PM
We've really felt like we are ourselves here. There's no one to impress or pose for. We have just been who we are and that feels so good.

What a day! We waked and talked, saw some great art at SITE Santa Fe, stopped in to a few galleries, and of course, shopped. James got this one-of-a-kind shirt by a local designer and I picked up a pair of vintage jeans. Great finds.

Saturday Entries
James - Saturday 10:21 AM
It's great to be out of the big city. This is our third day here in Santa Fe and I feel like a completely new person. And I'm seeing my relationship with Jared in a whole new light. It's nothing short of wonderful. I love this place

Jared - Saturday 2:27 PM
I think every relationship needs time away when you can just enjoy one another. Last night we went to the Lensic Performing Arts Center for a concert. It was first rate, as good as anything we see in Denver. The theater itself is so cool, one of those really lavish movie theaters from the fifties that was completely redone so it has great sound and is very comfortable. There's a performance almost every night, so there's always something to do.

Jared - Saturday 4:10 PM
Yesterday was a whirlwind so today we mastered the fine art of rest and relaxation. The kiva fireplace, the room service, and simply being close to James were incredible. A little down time was just what we needed. I hear there's a piano bar down the street. We might check that out tonight.

James - Saturday 5:41 PM
Something else we're finding out is that there's a large, established GLBT community here. Met a well known artist and his partner, who live here, at the concert.

Sunday Entries
James - Sunday 8:30 AM couple jj coffee3
I think I've gotten addicted to green chile breakfast burritos. Had a final one today at a fun downtown café. I want to come back just to revisit 315, a cozy, bistro-style restaurant with a fantastic wine cellar. The menu is seasonal, fresh, and quite European in style. It was one of the most romantic dinners we've had in a long time.

Jared - Sunday 2:00 PM
We went for a spectacular hike in the mountains, then visited a spa for massages and a long hot tub soak. The massage was one of the best I've ever had and I don't think I've ever seen James this relaxed. We both feel refreshed and renewed and we've vowed to take more time to enjoy life when we get home.

James - Sunday 2:43 PM
Okay, am I dreaming? This is the best time Jared and I have ever spent together. Period. Those turquoise stones are said to have special powers. I believe it.

James - Sunday 5:00 PM
I bought a small piece of Native American pottery as my gift to Jared. There is every kind of art here, contemporary, Western, and from every country on the planet. But I wanted something special to go on his desk. It will be a perfect reminder for him of this trip.

Jared - Sunday 8:12 PM
This is our last night here but it's not our last vacation here. I'm sure of that. The art, the history, the hiking were all really cool But the best part was the food. Incredible. The prickly pear margaritas were pretty tasty too.

Jared - Sunday 9:30 PM
I have realized just how stressed from work I have been. Santa Fe really helped me relax. I've paid more attention to James on this trip and I'm thankful for that, too.

I can't believe we have to go home tomorrow. I could stay here forever. There's a lot to see and do in Santa Fe, but the pace of life feels relaxed. Comfortable. Just a few days here and Jared and I can take on the world together. But we'll be back. Soon.

James - Sunday 11:50 PM
That idea appeals to me. Long trips have become so difficult and traveling overseas is so expensive with a weak dollar that I would rather stay closer to home. Santa Fe's authentic historic quality is almost like being in Europe. Jared always helps me to reconnect with the things that are really important.
