After so much anticipation we finally got out of town and made it to Santa Fe. We miss the kids already but they will be fine. This is just for the two of us.

I forgot how much we can talk with each other. Just walking around the Plaza and being in this stimulating place is like pushing the 'reset' button. It pays to remember why we like to get away. And why we like each other.

Everyone we met as we were exploring has been so friendly and interesting. It's like they are happy to be living here. We're amazed at how this place looks. It's different from anywhere I've been, with all the adobe buildings. It feels old and not like America. Like you can see the history in the buildings.

I can't believe we're actually here. It's extraordinary. We hit the galleries this afternoon, had an amazing dinner in town and now we're off to a hot soak under the stars. Is this nirvana or what.

Vacation is always great. Just having time to hang around in the morning and not rush off somewhere put a whole new light on things. We wanted to run out the door and look around and ended up falling back in bed and then drinking coffee in the room. I guess we really needed a break.

Heading up Canyon Road. Alissa loves indigenous crafts and folk art. My taste is more cutting edge contemporary. No problem, there's plenty of both here. I've also got my eye on a pair of really cool boots I saw yesterday on the plaza.

Don't get me wrong. I love our kids, but having this time alone with Alissa is fantastic. She's always so busy making sure they have everything they need or want. Frankly, I think she spoils them. Now it's time to spoil her.

We're starting to figure Santa Fe out. Like we could tell yesterday, it pays to slow down. This is a really casual place and people aren't in a hurry. It is kind of contagious. Between the easy-going pace and having no responsibilities except for our own happiness we've been lingering over the smallest things and paying more attention to each other.

I love Alissa's smile. She's been smiling ever since we got here. I can't think of a better place for us to just hang out together. Words can't describe the vibe here. You have to feel it for yourself.

It was a perfect moment. You don't get many of them. You savor it and keep it in your heart and mind forever. Alissa never looked so beautiful. Santa Fe has reminded me why I fell in love in the first place.

Allisa and I are back to being more of who we want to be together. We talk about the kind of relationship we have but it's hard to always meet our own expectations. Being here has made it easy. Why aren't we like this all the time?

Denny - 8:20 AM
It was another crystal clear morning. I don't think I'd ever get tired of seeing the sky here. We took off on foot to visit a couple of the museums and parts of town we've missed. We haven't even thought of getting in the car.
Denny - 3: 30 PMI want to do something for Alissa today. I know she's had her eye on a piece of Indian jewelry we saw and it would make a neat reminder of our trip. Plus, it's a real work of art that will be worth owning.

This has been an excellent trip for us. We saw this wonderful place but also saw each other again, as if we hadn't done anything together in a long time. We didn't have nearly enough time to take it all in but I think we'll be coming back. I can't remember when I've seen Alissa as contented as she's been. And that pretty much goes for me too.
