Witness the accurate account of General Don Diego de Vargas and his Cuadrilla along with his American Indian allies who assisted in the peaceful resettlement of Santa Fe in September 1692.

This re-enactment provides a detailed insight into the true meaning behind Fiesta de Santa Fe, based on a promise made to Nuestra Senora de La Paz, La Conquistadora, the Marian figure enshrined at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, who came to New Mexico in 1625 via oxcart along El Camino Real from Mexico City under the escort of Fr. Alonzo de Benevidez. This promise was formalized in the establishment of the Santa Fe city council proclamation on September 16, 1712.
