Weddings

When you imagine your classic wedding photo sitting on the mantle, what could be better than a picture of the newly appointed husband and wife with a Santa Fe sunset in the background? The city of Santa Fe is the epitome of romance creating the sublime backdrop for your wedding with winding narrow streets, softly contoured adobe buildings, dramatic sunsets and majestic mountains.

You and your beloved can make your special day perfect in every way and tailored to your taste. Santa Fe is the ideal fit whether you choose to go traditional with a lavish reception in a luxurious ballroom or more modern with an intimate gathering in an elegant garden. You can take charge of the arrangements yourself or let a wedding planner handle every detail for you.

Getting married in the City Different offers the unique opportunity to exchange your vows in a historic wedding chapel with a miraculous staircase or on the site of ancient ruins. You can just as easily host a catered wedding feast in the garden of a world-class gallery or atop a mountain ridge with breathtaking vistas. You can find the ideal wedding officiant, religious or non-denominational, to perform your ceremony.

Santa Fe is well known as an epicenter for the arts so you can be sure you'll find talented artists with the skills to fulfill your Santa Fe wedding visions. You and your guests can dine on delicious feasts concocted by seasoned caterers and world renowned chefs. Innovative florists will cultivate the ultimate bouquet for you to carry down the aisle. Expert photographers will capture the memorable moments of your wedding day in pictures. For your first dance as husband and wife, twirl around the dance floor to gifted musicians playing "your song" in the background.

Couples like you make Santa Fe one of the most popular wedding destinations in the country and the ideal destination for you and your husband to return to year after year to celebrate your anniversaries.

Getting Your Marriage License

Now that you've decided on your dress and the perfect flowers to punctuate your day, don't forget your marriage license! The prospective bride and groom must apply in person at the County Clerk's office in the Santa Fe County Administration Building at 102 Grant Avenue. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. excluding major holidays. The phone number is (505) 986-6280.

You'll need to bring $25 in cash (checks and credit cards are not accepted) along with your picture IDS (preferably a driver's license and/or passport) and proof of your Social Security Numbers. No waiting period or blood test is required and you don't have to be a New Mexico resident to receive a license. Remember to bring your license to the wedding so the officiant can sign it and then you will need to file it at the County Clerk's Office to make the marriage legal.
