Depth within this one media is what we strive for, often representing six generations of one family. Maria Martinez, recognized as the most famous Indian potter, is our specialty and we always have a large selection of her work.

We also appraise American Indian pottery. If you are unable to bring the piece to us, we can appraise from clear photographs. We will need photographs of the piece straight on, the inside and the bottom plus an accurate measurement of the height and diameter. (please no rulers placed in the photo) Any information about the history of the piece is requested. Our charge is $100 per piece.

In July 2007, Santa Fe Gallerist John Addison joined Chiaroscuro as Director and continues to expand the contemporary abstraction program representing established and emerging artists on a national level.

Although the gallery focuses on abstraction, representational and non-representational art in a variety of media are exhibited. EVOKE Contemporary’s 2012 line up of events includes the following: INTERLOPERS | works on paper group show in March is a tribute to EVOKE’s dearly departed friend and art patron, Sandy Besser. This eclectic exhibition features the work of thirty artists including many rare pieces from the Besser Collection.
In May, Lynn Boggess starts the summer season with “Sense of Place” a showcase of his distinctive, heavy impasto landscape paintings. This show will include a rare series of his work done in New Mexico. Next at EVOKE is Re-Presenting the Nude II, the greatly anticipated biennial group exhibition of extraordinary and unexpected figurative art curated by John O’Hern opening in July. With August comes a solo show of New Mexico’s own living treasure, Louisa McElwain and her spectacular oils of joy created in the vast panoramas of Northern New Mexico. As a grand finale, Sergio Garval unveils his highly provocative, premiere one-man exhibition in the U.S opening at EVOKE Contemporary in October.
