Skiing

You'll find some of the best places to ski in the Southwest right here in the Santa Fe area. The season typically lasts from late fall through early spring, bringing up to 300 inches of snow a year to some ski resorts and plenty of races, winter festivals and other events.
Click here for the latest snow report.

With an average of 300 sunny days a year and plenty of snow during the winter season, Santa Fe is a skier's paradise. Whether you're a novice or an expert, a downhill skier or a snowboarder, you'll enjoy miles of challenging trails, beautiful panoramic mountain vistas and endless fun beneath the winter sun.

Ride the bumps or glide through the trees. Charge your way down steep slopes or take a leisurely route along trails that slowly wind down the mountains. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers can explore some fantastic terrain in the Santa Fe area too, including the Aspen Vista Trail and the Nordic Trail on Hyde Park Road below the Ski Santa Fe ski area, as well as rolling terrain in the Valles Caldera National Preserve, a volcanic caldera in the Jemez Mountains.

Bring the family and stay for a week, or schedule an impromptu ski vacation for you and your friends. You can often find great package deals throughout the season. Sign up for lessons from seasoned instructors who can teach you the basics of skiing if you're a beginner and help you polish your skills if you're a longtime skier feeling rusty. Bring your own equipment or, if you prefer to travel lightly, rent everything you need once you're here.

Experience the powdered snow, the pristine trails and the sun-filled days that contribute to the perfect skiing and snowshoeing conditions of the Southwest. Once you've skied our mountains here, you'll agree there's no other place like this winter wonderland.
