Winter 2010
Santa Fe has four distinct seasons--each with its own special qualities. Winter is crisp, often sunny, sometimes snowy. Fireplaces burning local piñon wood fill the air with a spicy aroma and the city's historic adobe buildings never look better than when they are glazed with white. Ski season is in full swing and all of the city's legendary dining, art, performance, shopping, spas, and cultural events are just as vibrant as in summer.
This winter brings an exciting new event -- Winter Fiesta -- a weeklong party celebrating all of Santa Fe's attributes. There will be outdoor adventure, happy hour, merchant, and restaurant discounts, cultural events, dining, art demonstrations and museum specials--all with a festive atmosphere. Winter is also value season and package deals abound. So it's time to book, whether it's for a week of skiing and snowboarding, a romantic Valentine getaway, or Winter Fiesta with the whole city!
Ski Santa Fe is just 30 minutes from downtown and has 73 trails for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities. It is in the southern Rocky Mountains and averages 225 inches of snowfall annually. Chipmunk corner is a special place for kids with lessons for 3 to 11-year olds and daycare for little ones. Non-skiing family members have endless choices of things to do in Santa Fe.
Last Minute Holiday Getaways - It's not too late to enjoy Santa Fe for the holidays. Some hotels offer special deals and all have a welcoming, festive atmosphere. There are concerts all over town and the city's famous farolitos -- twinkling amber lights that are actually candles in paper bags -- are everywhere.

Value Season - All winter is value season in Santa Fe with the lowest rates of the year. Look for hotel package deals that include ski lift tickets and sometimes lessons or equipment rentals. Hotels and restaurants also partner for dining packages. Book ahead for discounts on Valentines Day, Presidents' Day weekend, Winter Fiesta, and spring break. Find all the best bargains on SantaFe.org.
Winter Events - Although it snows in the city, and snows more in the nearby mountains, Santa Fe winters are mostly fairly mild. So there is plenty to get out and do, from visiting museums and shops to art, performance, and special events. Here are just a few of the events planned. More will be added. Check them all out on the calendar.
