The new Santa Fe convention center, named the Santa Fe Center and scheduled to open in late summer, 2008, will make the city an even more desirable venue for meeting professionals and organizations of all sizes. The 72,500-square-foot convention center will have more than 40,000 square-feet of exhibit space (versus 10,000 square feet in the Sweeney Convention Center), and feature state-of-the-art audio/visual capabilities on par with the nation's other great convention and conferencing facilities.

Located in the heart of Santa Fe's thriving downtown, the Santa Fe Center will be within walking distance of some of the world's finest restaurants, museums and shopping, as well as 1,500 hotel rooms. For those who choose to stay at one of the numerous other lodging options within short driving distance, the center will include a 512-vehicle underground parking garage that is three times the size of the current facility.

The Santa Fe Center will also house a permanent exhibit displaying many of Santa Fe's significant historic and cultural artifacts. This is entirely in keeping for a venue whose location itself is seeped in history: artifacts found on the land on which the new convention center will sit are said to date back to the 13th century, and conjecture exists that ancient pueblos may lie underneath.
